This isn't a crow bar

I got over this mild sore throat I had for the past two days, I'm sure it wouldn't of lasted as long if I didn't suck smoke into my lungs. Not much going on other than I got a calendar and now I can keep up with the shows coming down to this neck of the woods. I already marked down 3 dates when, The Mountain Goats, The Album Leaf, and Marbles come into town and some minor dates of if I'm bored shows of Xiu Xiu & Single Frame.

Quit hitting yourself

We [the 4307 underground] are getting these one ringers. The phone'll [is that right, can I add 'll to anything...probably not but that seems so right...phone'll...maybe I've been living in Texas too long] ring once and then nothing. I don't mind it if it means all the other random phone calls for our phantom roomate ceases and it seems they have. Which means its them because it started after "blocked call" stopped calling. Here is my theory why.

Yesterday they called and I was feeling particularly...sassy, no....frisky....nope, hmmmm bodacious...maybe, the thesaurous tells me fresh but its not 1991...it also tells me plucky but I don't use that word either so we'll stick with bodacious. Anyway the phone rang and none of the calls are for anyone who lives there but I can't stand letting a phone ring so I picked up. I said my hello and then she asked if my roomate, we'll call him Nipple Scoogins IV for privacy purposes because I think once he signed a note to that manner. Then I said no habla engles, she asked other questions and I said que?, que? ...Is there anyone there who speaks English...que? I wasn't really feeling getting into it so I wasn't pushing the accent and I'm pretty sure she knew I spoke english by the tone in her voice. I talk to this person everyday, she askes for Scoogins and I tell her he's not here and then she says I'll call back. She calls 3 times a day! She should learn her lesson so I was just showing her how much I appreciate her calls. So for that this is the retaliation on the phone of the 4307 underground. Scoogins needs to tell people that he doesn't live here anymore but he doesn't, he does however still pay rent apparently so I guess I can't complain about his phone calls. I think I'll just do the pick up hang up from now on. It sends a clear message.

The Big Hebowski

The big lebowski is probably one of the greatest comedys ever. He-man is up there in retro cartoons. Put them together what do you get? The Big Hebowski. When you are on the page there are few other videos to watch like the GI Joe series.

Then theres Arnold.

The Two Sides Of Monsieur Valentine

My life is now complete.

I did a little modification to the ole Think Tank, I changed the background a little with something I made in Photoshop and I modified some shapes, sizes and corners. I can't keep it looking one way because I like messing around with the code and seeing what I can do and what I can improve. I want to keep a stable look but change is too tempting.

Anyway as I was saying, my life is now complete. I got my album today, four months before its release. I finaly nabbed my very very much anicipated 5th long player from Austins own Spoon. Its a big deal to me because I've been on a mission trying to locate this with different tactics and scams with no avail but today I just used google and few choice search terms and commands and bam! I love you internet. I got to say though, I'm not sold on the production, they should of put Vanderslice up to it. Some of the demos fared better. I'd rank it their 3rd or 4th best which is far from bad. I remember that sad sad day when I was driving through Plano at 3am after a couple glasses of wine and put Spoons 1st best in the cd player and it broke as I was putting it in. The day the music died. I was going to write letter to Merge records but I wimped out. Maybe I still can.

Peabo

I had this dream that I was sitting with people outside and we were getting ready to do something. All excited, we got up and one person was so excited he did a standing dropkick because he was so pumped. It wasn't odd that he did it because I understand the need to do so in certain cases it was just that it was so random. Also I think he had a mullet and was dressed 80s style. Why can't real life be this interesting?

Towering Above the Rest

I slept from 830am to 830 pm. I missed the whole day. I wish I hadn't because it was Saturday and it seems like I would of done something cool. But probably not. I saw Modest Mouse Friday night and they put on a good show. I was just getting over the Whiskey drinkage from Thursday and didn't feel up to it but as soon as I got on the road I was doing fine. Which reminds me, I did a lot of driving the past two day. 5-6 hours of it. There needs to be some more passenger trains around here, that would help me out a lot. Either way I just downloaded a nice 10 disc "Towering Above the Rest" Radiohead compilation of B-sides and rarities. Lots of people tell me that the B-sides songs are better than the album ones. I can't decide, they are all very good. I think I need some sleep.

Never

Do you know what I hate ...."lol". You'll never catch me using it. Its like you are telling someone to laugh out loud. How about ialol = I am laughing out loud. That makes more sense.

Eels

The new Eels album is all over the www and E [the songwritter and main Eel] said it was going to be his masterpiece. After seeing it last night I jumped on it 2 months before it gets its release and everyone is saying good things about it. I didn't know they had a fan base at all especially after that last two horrible albums, latter worse than the former. Either way this sounds great, its a double album. An odd thing is that he signed to Vagrant, odd move from Dreamworks which is a label geared to his sound, well a label geared more towards artistic freedom. The oddest part is that both labels are owned by Interscope. The album is a 2 CD return to form, recorded in E's basement. He slowed down and mellowed back down which is a good thing. Eels - Blinking lights and other revelations - April 22, 2005

Somebody please leak the new Spoon damnit. Its already my album of the year. They're best thing to come out of Texas other than me. Gimme Fiction.

Blinking lights and other revelations

Another great musical guest on Craig Ferguson tonight. Interpol played Evil, my absolute favorite by them. I think I posted about that song, just that song, at least 4 times. It has one of my favorite bass riffs, not difficult or technical but catchy as fuck. Afterwards Craig Ferguson gave his recommendation for the kids of American to pick up this disc and some other rant about how much he liked them. Good stuff, I was think that a dream job would be musical coordinator for a late night show like Conan Obrien or something else like this show. I pride myself in keeping up with what's now in music. I guess I could be full of shit but I don't think so.

The first two hours of my day

Its noon but here is a summary of the day;

I set my alarm early so I could wake up and review for my exam but I hit snooze too many times because I couldn't remember what I was waking up early for. I can't really function mentally in the morning until about an hour after the initial wake up.

I walk to the bus eating my morning clementines. It used to be that one would suffice but my tolerance to this citrus fruit has gone up and I've doubled my morning dosage.

I get the bus and sit in the very back and some girl farts. I look over about 7 seconds post-eruption and she has a big smile on her face. How odd.

I took my test. Walked back to the bus and rode back to the apartment then walked back while talking to myself, I didn't know someone was so close behind. I do it too often to care. Sometimes I like to hear thoughts outloud.

Then back to my fortress and to my throne with my microwave beans. Downloading some good tunes and listening to them. Some good ole Japanese Indie Pop. I live like a king.

trumpet smashing

Bright Eyes was on Craig Ferguson. The band smashed "an extremely expensive guitar" and a trumpet at the end of the song. Then the singer/songwriter Conor Oberst fumbled through an interview. But damn that guitar was sweet. I like how the trumpet player was smashing his trumpet on the ground as there was a guitar being smashed next to him. He had to get down on his knees for the dramatic effect. I want to see Kenny G smash his Clarinet on the ground after a performance. I don't think I miss spelled so much in one paragraph ever before...thats what spell check is for. I'm hungry!

Paranoid Android

1. You may never get to touch the Master, but you can tickle his creatures.
2. The innocence of the creatures is in inverse proportion to the immorality of the Master.
3. If they can get you asking the wrong questions, they don't have to worry about answers.
4. You hide, they seek.
5. Paranoids are not paranoid because they're paranoid, but because they keep putting themselves, fucking idiots, deliberately into paranoid situations.

Lenny: Jeeze, Homer. I thought someone with two wives would be happy.
Carl: No, you're thinking of someone with two knives.
Moe: (While holding two knives) I gotta tell ya, this is pretty terrific.

When I Go Deaf

Today consisted of going to class, taking a nap and then reading my chapters for philosophy. I came back played some music then listened to music then downloaded some music. 8 Albums today, I went through and gave them a good listen, deleted, picked selected tracks or kept what was good. Here is the rundown so far

Apostle of Hustle - Folkloric : great sound but not a sound that I like, kept a track

Low - Great Destroyer : Good stuff, a keeper....[update: best download of tonight....wow is all I can say]

Busdriver - Fear of a black tangent : nope, one of the faster rappers I've heard but not getting into it

The Kills - No wow : Yucky

Beck - Mellow Gold : Good Stuff, a keeper

Beck - Odelay : another great album, also a keeper

Iron & Wine - Woman King : of course its a keeper

LCD Soundsystem - LCD Soundsystem : Damn, I have to keep this just based on the hype alone and some great beats. I've been hearing about this album for a year + already and everyone is looking for it online. One half of the DFA production team.

Mars Volta - Frances the Mute : Already had this but I downloaded it again because it had the Limited Edition Japanese version label.....its the same thing as the regualar version!

Luna

I'm in desperate need of a new calendar. I missed Luna on Janurary 29th when they came by Dallas. I had it marked on my old calendar but that was for last year and it got thrown away. The thing about it was that it was a farewell tour and the last time they are going to ever come by here. They have eight more cities and then its over, no more albums, no more tours, no more music. damn damn damn, this is a whole lot of suck. Atleast I found a bootleg of a whole show from this tour but that isn't any near seeing them live. I need to get a planner or calendar for this year to get my affairs in order I just keep on forgetting to get one.

Kings of convenience

I took a really long nap in two segments today. I feel a sleep accidentally then woke up and saw the simpsons on and watched that and then feel a sleep after for few hours. I wanted to get back into the dreams because a lot was happening and my philosophy professor was talking about dreams are a way of your mind solving your life problems. When he said that I was completly opposed to it and I still am just not to the extent of when he said it because today it seemed to make sense. I still think its just a manifestation of recent memories and desires that are not acted upon. Either way I had a dream of getting really trashed and not being able to walk straight. Weird part was that it was at my aunts house and they had a keg.

I want to know about....

I can rarely lose myself in something for a long period of time like a nice video game [age of empires II] or a nice read. Randomly when I'm bored and I feel like being educated on my own free will I turn to my good buddy about.com. Once you read something and learn something new you see something else and you read about that and see another link and so on and so on, if you are in the right mood which is usually at a really late hour of the night for me.

Looking for a new car, well this might help you out and point you to a good deal. Then you can check out related items on the side.

Are you making something and messed it up by adding too much of something like salt, well you can find a quick fix here.

Do you think you are an alcoholic, take this quiz.

Are you a lesbian and want to get that special someone something special, looking here might help.

Do you ride a bicycle alot and want to know what type of muscle type you are [ie long-distance or sprinter] maybe this might help.

Do you want to get a good bicycle workout but only have an hour, check out these tips to get the most of your ride.

What to know how to mix a cocktail, you might want to look here.

The point is this website can educate you on nearly anything you wanted to know and didn't know you wanted to know. Its gets a thumbs up from the think tank because its always good to learn something new.
