Last Plane to Jakarta

Finally Last Plane to Jakarta, changed there format. I used to read it 2 years ago but the format of the pages annoyed me and I emailed Lalitree (John Darnielle, the authors wife) who was the webmistress about how the format wasn't efficient because John goes off for several pages sometimes and having to constantly change pages made it impossible for me to know when it was going to end and so I never finished anything hardly. She gave some excuse about how John liked it that way. I stopped reading. September 6th she changed it and now I am reading it again. To appreciate the page you'd have to know who John Darnielle is and appreciate his music.

Life Lesson #1

When you run out of dishwasher detergent do not use dishwashing soap. Sure the first thought is, they both clean dishes so now it’s going to clean dishes inside the dishwasher. You might of also thought you shouldn't do this but you try it because the concept isn't clear to you and you don't know the consequences. Well that’s what happened today. I just got back from the library and was in need of a cup for tea and my favorite mug was dirty, there was no detergent so I thought I should put some of this dawn in the dishwasher. Lucky I was still standing there after I turned it on, suds started pouring out of ever orifice of the dishwasher; the sink hole, the thing next to the sink and the bottom of the dishwasher. I just turned it off and came to the realization why I shouldn't put dishwashing soap where dishwasher detergent belongs. The only good that came of this is half the kitchen floor is clean and I learned this life lesson. I blame my roommates Ryan and Joe for leaving me home alone and not specifically telling me not to do this. Those bastards.

Lots of blogs on blogspot are from asian countries, I'd say 45%. Its entertaining to read how badly they butcher the english language intentionally. Going crazy with abreviations, hip spellings (wif vs with; buzie vs busy) and losing control of lowercase and uppercase letters. Like this. , 100% sally.

Stratification

I just finished my assignment for Sociology of Stratification (the separation of classes and people). It's actually a pretty interesting class. Like many sociology classes there is no one answer just a series of theories. Last week we read Marx's Communist Manifesto, this week I read about the undeserving poor and their functions and what they are to society. Like villains, scapegoats and even strike breakers. Very interesting class with a lot of thought not much memorization like many of my other classes. Thats why I like sociology, free thoughts, different theories contradicting each other and none of them the exact right one. Your own opinion guides you through theories and you form your own opinion of what is right or wrong. The whole class completely came down on the Marx’s communist manifesto and his downfalls last class. I agree with some of Marx’s thoughts but some seem impossible. Now I am off to class for 3hrs. Good upper level class for people who don't mind reading short articles and applying your own thoughts to them. You can never be wrong. Well maybe if you’re stupid. Stupid

biased generalization

I just read a Bush supporters views on abortion and it was so extreme it made me laugh. I say to him his own, I do what I want and you do what you want. Abortion is not an epidemic. I am for peoples choice, I don't want someone telling me how to live my life.

I used to throw my opinion at people when I heard something I opposed but I realize that if the other side is feeling directly opposite of you, throwing biased views makes you look like a moron especially when the views are deranged to make one side look better. When I hear others opinions and the cruel generalization that is attached, I just sit there not saying anything because my opinion of them is already set with the few words that just came out of their mouth declaring their stupidity. Opposition is not stupid, biased generalization is. I appreciate facts vs. facts, opinions vs. opinions but when the person has an elementary school mentality I try to avoid them unless I'm drunk, then you might get an earful.

It's late

I took a nap today around 6:30. I put it on the Simpsons and it was an episode I saw a lot so I slept. Around 9:30 I woke up in a cynical mood. I was kind of not looking forward to the weekend and all the events it was going to entail. Around 10p I opened a beer and started drinking, then soon me and Ryan and Joe started a drinking game and I got a nice buzz. Our downstairs neighbor came up for a while, I gave her a beer and she seemed cool. Then after everyone cleared out it was just me and Ryan so we went to Walmart at 230a in the morning. We didnt buy anything but I returned to my apartment with a nice cowboy hat. Well nice is an over-statment, best you could find in the toy section of a Wal-Mart. I guess this weekend has one day that I feel was worth getting up for. I downloaded the Arcade Fires new album which is very good, I hear lots of album of the year talk from the indie rockers about this album. I also got the Wrens newish Meadowland album which is also a good rock for the sake of being rock, rock album. Also yesterday I downloaded the new Faint which is good and the new AC Newman album which in actuallity will be one of my favorite albums of the year. I also got The Photo Album by Death Cab, which isn't bad at first listen. I got a good hook up for the past couple of day for pages of whole albums and I get to pick and choose. Lots of people are downloading so you can't always get what you want like the Cellar Door album by John Vanderslice which I have been working on for the past 2 days with not so good sucess.

New format

I changed the comment format which took me an hour or more just to get perfect and at the right spot. I like this better where people can write there names instead of anonymous.

Moon

Look at that moon phase monitor on the right panel. I would of never been able to do that on Tripod. I have learned so much more html functions and code with this new page.

I went to see a speaker at the Silver Eagle Union Suite or some name like that. First time there so I was a bit late. Projected attendance was 800 people, which it seems like whoever comes up with these numbers usually over shoots it a lot. I walked in and I couldn't move, there were a lot of people sitting in chairs and a lot sitting everywhere else so I sat on the ground. It had to be 1000 plus people. There was free lunch after wards for everyone there who got the oh so precious ORANGE TICKET (loud booming voice echoing). I saw the mendicants who hadn’t got a ticket or attended try to get some free food, I laughed loudly. It was imperative that I got preference over these mendicants (Sealab-2021). It was worth missing Criminal Justice. Word.

Outdoor Miner

I hate how I have to proiritize and I can't do what I want. I'm scheduled for a nap in a few but I don't want that. I need it so I don't fall asleep while doing my homework which I don't want to do either. I don't want to eat but I have to or my stomach gets mad, we have this love/hate relationship. Still waiting till I get my billions and I buy myself an island.

Anyone have a potatoe I can have?

Small Victory

So class got out and it was raining, not very hard but persistent, it didn't look like the rain was going to give so I decided to walk to my car. After I turned the corner it picked up, I wasn't going to turn back because of water, I was heading back to my apartment anyway. By the time I walk 7mins in the rain I saw I got a ticket, my first of this school year. I was so mad, with the rain (which stopped right when I got in my car), sleepiness and ticket I just went straight to the UNT public safety/Police Station to bitch about my ticket. It was more dramatic because I still had the anger of just getting my ticket and I was completly soaked standing there talking to them. They shrugged and I showed them I had to park on campus with my handicap note from my doctor but they said they couldn’t do anything and I should get a handicap tag from Collin County Tax office. The only thing I wanted was my ticket to be taken away. If I got the tag, I would also have to pay $100 plus dollars for a parking tag so I could use the handicap one on campus. Either way I'm appealing the ticket, which I have successfully done before. I have never paid a UNT ticket and I don't plan on it, I got my other two deferred. I walked away with a temporary D parking tag for two weeks for $5. After I got back I look where Tag D lets me park and its all the faculty and staff areas, which is the second best one next to “reserved”. A small victory.

Effort

School takes a lot of effort. I had the mindset to do everything I needed to and be on the ball all summer long but that one month of no school put the lazy right back into me. Four junior level classes and the one thats not upper level is my hardest.

New Roomate

What the fuck we have a new roomate. I walked out of my room and there was a random guy standing there. Our apartment is so trashed with beer bottles, cans, champagne bottles, random trash. His name is Shawn, 27, from Arlington.

I wonder what he can bring to the mix.

Broken Social Scene

So much good music coming out of Canada lately. I've been on a misson for two weeks to find a tune, I have 1 minute snippets in bad quality but that won't do. Today I found somewhere I can stream the video so I finally heard the whole song. Still looking for the full mp3. I hate this firewall and I hate you.

In other news our half gallon of milk is 4 months old today. He's not smelling too nice, rancid would be a good word to describe it. At one point it had us running away from the smell when we were in the patio. If you could only smell it you would feel the same ecstacy(?) we felt.

Coupla Easy Things

Went to a new class today and I have another one tomorrow and then I will have had gone to all my classes finally. Lots of school work this semester, way more than any other. Lots of reading...if I weren't so lazy this would be a good relationship.

Physical Therapy or PT as the ones in the know say it is going well, I'm at 125 degrees flexion. Everyone is nice here and its about 200 yards from my apartment. There is this large girl who plays HS softball I think (thats what large girls play right?) shows up and rides the bike when I am doing my exercises. She stares at me like I'm a German Chocolat cake the whole time she is riding. Today brought in a guy with one leg and he had some poetry he wrote to woe the nurses and physical therapists with and was showing that around. Pretty nice mustache though. He lost his leg in a December car accident.

I'm still wearing the brace, I have to wait till the doc tells me I don't have to which is stupid because walking around campus it looks like I have an irregular sized leg and a normal one. You see the problem I had before surgery is that my knee wasn't stable. He'd take it and grab my upper shin and my lower thigh (right between my knee) and move it back and forth and say here is the problem, then show how my other knee didn't do that.

Hitman

I put a hit counter up yesterday and today it says I have 128 hits. I think todays comment fiasco blew it up. Setting it up took 4 hits. I should research how this thing counts hits.

Other than that I have been working on a mix cd for the past week addind and deleting tracks till I get perfection. Thats all I want.
